Do you know Conal Gallen?

In 2022 we ask our visiting artists to tell us a little bit about themselves. We hope that these short questionnaires will reveal something that you didn't know or expect about them.

Today's volunteer for our quickfire questionnaire is Self Proclaimed "Ireland's funniest man", Donegal finest catch, Conal Gallen.

Q- Tell us about yourself

A- I’m an International playboy! Young at heart and not near right!

Q- What will you play on stage in Birr

A- Anyone who has been to my show will know that it will be as big a surprise to me as it will be to the audience!

Q- Who is your biggest influence (in life / on stage)?

A- The biggest influence in my life was my father. He took life too serious!

My biggest influence on stage would have to be Brendan Grace

Q- Describe yourself as a 10-year-old.

A- If I remember correctly, this was when I was between the ages of 9 and 11!

Q- What’s your best onstage memory?

A- Helping a young man to propose to his girlfriend onstage at my show in the Olympia Theatre. The look on her face was priceless!

Q- What’s your worst on stage memory?

A- Helping a young man to propose to his girlfriend onstage at my show in the Olympia Theatre.

Q- Where are you at your happiest?

A- Without a doubt, onstage!

Q- What’s your favourite colour?

A- Purple like the snack

Q- What’s the last book you enjoyed?

A- Apart from the one myself and my son, Rory have just written! “The Murphys” in “Banged Up Abroad “! I’ve just finished reading Walter Macken’s Trilogy. Again.

A- My favourite film is “Forrest Gump”.

The last play I really enjoyed was “The Shaughraun”!
