Tony Doyle, a multi-talented artist hailing from Dublin, has firmly established himself as a rising star in the theatre and film industry. His journey with Birr Theatre & Arts Centre began when he won the prestigious Scripts Festival prize in 2022 for his captivating play, "Marble Mushrooms." Through the transformative mentorship process of the residency, "Marble Mushrooms" has evolved into the remarkable and highly anticipated "The Stars in Peru" which Doyle will be presenting on June 17th.

"Marble Mushrooms," the winner of the Scripts Festival prize, showcased Doyle's exceptional writing skills, poignant storytelling, and undeniable talent. The residency at Birr Theatre & Arts Centre has provided the perfect nurturing environment for Doyle to refine and expand upon his original work, resulting in the birth of "The Stars in Peru." This play promises to be a tour de force, highlighting Doyle's growth as a playwright and his ability to captivate audiences with thought-provoking narratives.

In addition to his Scripts Festival accolades, Tony Doyle's previous works have garnered significant recognition. His debut play, "Knowing Nathan," debuted in Dublin before triumphantly winning the Best Play award at the Galway Fringe Festival in 2018. Following this success, Doyle's semi-autobiographical one-man show, "Weekend Warrior," enraptured audiences during its Dublin Fringe Festival premiere and subsequent nationwide tour. His exceptional talent also extends to the world of film, with his short film "Guard Up" receiving critical acclaim and earning him a rising star award nomination at the Dublin International Film Festival.

Birr Theatre & Arts Centre is proud to host Tony Doyle's residency and showcase his exceptional talent, creativity, and dedication to the arts. On June 17th, audiences will have the exclusive opportunity to witness the evolution of Doyle's latest work, "The Stars in Peru," through a rehearsed stage reading.
