Birr Theatre & Arts Centre are calling for submissions for the 16th Annual Common Ground – an exhibition of work by artists living in the Midlands to be held from December 2023 – January 2024. 

This year the theme for Common Ground 2023 (referring to a group of artists coming together to exhibit) will be  “The Unseen Universe” - Delving into the hidden microscopic or cosmic realms that elude our naked eye. (all mediums considered).
  
The exhibition will be selected by artist, Bridget Flannery.
It is intended that the resulting exhibition will showcase the exceptional talent and diversity of Visual Artists in the Midlands today.  
  • We would like to encourage you to make a submission. This process is not intended to place any artist over another, but to offer a professionally selected exhibition opportunity for all artists in the area.
  • This exhibition allows artists the opportunity to interpret the theme in their own unique way, resulting in creative harmony that nourishes the mind, body, and spirit. 
  • This selected show is open to all media including painting, drawing, print, photography, sculpture etc.  
  • With this in mind we ask artists to submit a max of 2 pieces for consideration. 
  •  Any work that is determined not to meet the spirit/theme of the exhibit will not be accepted.

About Bridget Flannery:

Bridget is a visual artist living near the Laois-Carlow border.
She graduated from the Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork in 1981. Her work is mainly focused on pai
nting and drawing.
She has consistently exhibited in solo and group shows in Ireland and Europe. Her work is held in public and priv
ate collections nationally and internationally. Studio residencies include the Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Co. Mayo, Cill Rialaig Artists Retreat, Co. Kerry and The Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Co. Monaghan.
She is represented by Solomon Fine Art, Dublin.


She works as a Part-Time Learning Curator at VISUAL, Carlow, Draíocht, Blanchardstown and as a visiting tutor at Abbeyleix Colle.
