BIRR CREATIVE COURT PROJECT
Artist Facilitation days

Birr Theatre & Arts Centre supports the Creative Court Project and we would like to invite you to participate in the consultation process for this exciting project, where we are refurbishing an old courthouse into new spaces and studios for our artists.
The organisers have arranged three facilitation days for artists to have their say in how these spaces will be used. All three days will be facilitated by the wonderful folks of Workhouse Union

We would love for you to join us for all three days, but if you can only attend one or two, that's fine too!

DAY ONE:

Making/Creating Space: Day one will focus on the individual creative and practical working space needs of artists and creative practitioners. The day will include visiting the Creative Court building and responding to the physical constraints and opportunities of the heritage building. The day will also focus on the rhythm of different art/creative work and how to share resources and space.

Location: Birr Theatre & Arts Centre with a visit to the courthouse

Date : Wednesday 4 September

Time: 10am to 5pm

DAY TWO:

Visit: The town of Callan in Co. Kilkenny has established itself as a hub for artistic activity with a network of organisations and collectives, including KCAT Arts Centre, Equinox Theatre Company, Abhainn Rí Festival, Fennelly's of Callan, Monkeyshine Theatre, Asylum Productions, Tony O'Malley Residency and most recently The Powerhouse. The visit is an opportunity to experience the spaces and places and hear about how Callan's creative ecology is sustained.

Location:  Callan, artistic home of our facilitators, Workhouse Union
Meeting Point: Birr Theatre and Arts Centre (for bus departure)
Date: Wednesday 18 September

Time: 9.30am to 7pm

DAY THREE:

Operating Models: How will the Creative Court operate and be managed? How can local, national, and international artistic ambitions be fostered? This day will focus on thinking about the space's long-term ambitions and how it has the potential to support local creative talent and shape the path of future generations.

Location: Irish Heritage School, John's Hall, Birr, R42 Y927
Date: Wednesday, 23rd October
Time: 1pm to 9.30pm
