This week's film, SING 2- toe tappingly fabulous!

It’s Hallowe’en half term and therefore Hullaballoo Season at Birr Theatre & Arts Centre. This week we press play on SING 2. With a cast of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Pharrell Williams and Bono, who wouldn’t want to pop along to the theatre for 110 minutes of trails an tribulations provided by this amazing cast.

Having saved his local theater through a singing competition, bringing together a wide variety of characters, each has a dream and an easily recognizable recent Top 40 hit in their heart! Our koala theatrical impresario Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) now has an even bigger dream for himself and his troupe of performers! Who have we got?

We have pigs Rosita (Witherspoon) and Gunter (Nick Kroll), porcupine rocker Ash (Scarlett Johansson) alarmingly shy gorilla Johnny (Taron Egerton) and even more shy elephant Meena (Tori Kelly) that is, to go to the Vegas-like city of Red Shore and put on a new show at the lavish entertainment complex run by hotel tycoon Jimmy Crystal (Bobby Cannava).

Although the actual audition is a bit of a flop, Buster convinces Jimmy to finance an elaborate sci-fi stage musical entitled “Out of this World” based solely on his promise to lure legendary rock star lion Clay Calloway (Bono ... yes, Bono) out of 15 years of seclusion to make an appearance.

While Buster, who doesn't actually know Clay, toddles off with Ash to try to get him to sign on, the others have their own travails to overcome as the production lurches forth.

Eventually, opening night arrives, where everything goes predictably out of control before the climax in which Clay makes a triumphant return to the stage. This leads the audience in the film to cheer wildly as I know our audience here in Birr will be brimming too!

It's a feel good extravaganza with some cracking tunes!

So, get hold of all the family and the pals and get your seats for this weeks film- SING 2. We'll be waiting to welcome you, and look forward to hearing you sing and jiggle to all the mighty tunes that we all hear and know.

All seats are €5!
