The Duke - A Priceless True Story!....

....& ridiculously charming British Comedy.

It's one thing working alongside Access Cinema and another choosing a film that fits the bill for our audience types and tastes that will attend here at the theatre. How does one choose? How do we get it right....or even so so....? What's the common ground and it's all depending- in the film synopsis and trailer?

Today however, this might just be achieved! What do we all have in common but the art of laughter and need of a giggle. God knows we all need one! So here you go come to us for the showing of The Duke, Thursday 23 June 3pm, €7

Call the box office (057 9122911) or book online to get your tickets!

A movie has got be good when it stars Jim Broadbent & Helen Mirren, hasn't it? Add a bit of theft by a 60 year old taxi driver Kempton Bunton from non other than the National Gallery in London - The piece, nothing less than Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington!!

Kempton sent ransom notes saying that he would return the painting on condition that the government invested more in care for the elderly - he had long campaigned for pensioners to receive free television. What happened next became the stuff of legend. Only 50 years later did the full story emerge - Kempton had spun a web of lies. The only truth was that he was a good man, determined to change the world and save his marriage - how and why he used the Duke to achieve that is a wonderfully uplifting tale!
