Birr Theatre & Arts Centre is proud to present the 18thCommon Ground, our annual group exhibition, bringing together artists from the Midlands whose work explores a common Theme.
This year, exploring the given theme of “A Terrible Beauty” the selected artists explore a shared space, physical, emotional, and imaginative — where human experience converges.

This year the theme for Common Ground (referring to a group of artists coming together to exhibit) will be
"A Terrible Beauty"
This exhibition challenges artists to explore the profound tension between the sublime and the catastrophic, the exquisite and the agonising. "A Terrible Beauty" (a phrase famously coined by W.B. Yeats) asks us to look closely at the moments, objects and ideas where opposing forces converge, creating something breathtaking precisely because of its inherent contrast, danger, brokenness or pain.
