Vida Pain
February
Roscommon based artist, Vida Pain, is a BA Hons Degree graduate from GMIT.
Her work is a collection of cropped urban and abandoned mechanical objects that are sources from
an exploration of local towns and villages. Dramatic angles of facades, irrelevant to their environment,
often exaggerated in scale and colour. The work, although similar in theme, present an array of structure
and formal composition. Vida’s work was the RDS Judges choice of excellence for touring show in 2009 and
Prize winner at the Boyle Arts Festival in 2009. In 2011, Vida has been selected for RHA Annual Show, invited
artist during Wexfords Opera Festival and for three other solo exhibitions over 2011/12 - Carnegie Arts Centre,
Galway University Hospital and The Market Place, Armagh. Also selected to show with two other artists in The Source
Arts Centre, North Tipperary for 2012.
